SCBWI-NY Conference: registration open!

A quick public service announcement to remind my fellow children's writers that registration for the 2012 annual conference in New York is now open.

The faculty, as always, is top notch (and includes my pals Darcy Pattison, Peter Brown and Dan Santat. Hellooooo!).

If you've never gone and are serious about your career as a children's writer or illustrator, do what you can to get yoursef to New York. You'll have opportunities to get feedback on your manuscripts from editors and agents (you have to sign up for that), and you'll get to hear info from editors and art directors you really can't learn in any other way. Oh, and Cassandra Clare is giving a keynote on love triangles. How much fun will that be?

So, if you're submitting or are about ready, this is a really useful event to attend. If you're not quite there yet (let's say you don't have a complete draft, or you haven't revised your work in progress as much as possible), then tuck this in your files as a goal for next year.

I'm always amazed at who I meet and how much I learn at these conferences, and barring strange life circumstances, I'll be there in late January.
